Editor's Note: The property was purchased for a small sum and the current residence constructed in 2006. Based on the area of original property ownership by the Sheldon family, Dorothy Wells Pease eye witness statement in her 1941 paper and map location provided, this is the approximate original location of a structure with a cobblestone ell. It is likely that the original structure no longer exists and is not part of the current structure. In any event, there are few supporting facts available to-date."The Cobblestone Houses of Upstate New York", compiled by Dorothy Wells Pease. Research done in collaboration with Hazed B. Jeffery, supplemented with material furnished by Carl F. Schmidt, 1941. Reference the twelfth paragraph on page 16. The map location can be viewed on the 1940 Monroe County Map. Scroll to the Town of Mendon at the lower right of the map.
Subject #26, pages 16-17, "Survey of Cobblestone Masonry in the Rush - Mendon Area", by Richard Burton Wood (1934-1992), May 18, 1955. Essay submitted to Dr. Hersey, Art 146, Class of 1956 University of Rochester.
Realtor exterior photographs of the 15 Plains Road structure do not show any evidence of cobblestone construction, unless it has been covered by a new exterior. The residence does face Route 15A and has driveway access to that road; however, the address is listed as 15 Plains Road.

Editor's Note: From the R.T. Sheldon name, three lines go to three structures in the area, the rightmost is assumed to be this structure. The Rt. 15A road in this area is drawn differently than in other maps. A faint lines of the typical path can be seen, as if they were erased. Compare with 1852 map.

Editor's Note: This document has the location as Rush-Honeoye Falls Rd. E.S. (east side?) which appears to now be the Rush Lima Rd. No structure of this appearance has been found in the area. Street address is unknown.
